Russell Crowe has been officially cast as Noah in an upcoming film of the same name being directed by Darren Aronfsky. Months of rumours that Russell Crowe would play the leading role was confirmed by both Paramount Pictures and new Regency Productions.
Aronofsky said “I rejoice that Russell Crowe will be by my side in this adventure.” This film adaption of one of the most famous Bible stories will be releasing sometime in March 2014. Aronofsky added “I’d like to thank Paramount and Regency for backing my team’s work to breathe new life into this biblical effort,” He continued on Russell “It’s his immense talent that helps me sleep at night. I look forward to being wowed by him every day.”
The film will start to shoot around July in Iceland and New York, Russell recently has spent time in the UK filming scenes for the film adaption of the musical Les Miserables, where he plays Inspector Javert opposite of Hugh Jackman’s Jean Valijean.
I haven’t seen many of the films that Russell Crowe has been in but all I know is that in his role for Gladiator he gave an amazing performance.
Aronofsky had his feature film debut in 1998 with Pi; he earned the prize for the best director at the Sundance Film Festival and also best screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards.
