Adam Lambert, the hot and glamified world famous pop star, almost tossed his cookies when he watched the newest film adaptation of Les Miserables. Lambert was struck down with a case of “OMG” when the miserable cast showered one another with sweet-for-nothing vocals and OTT set pieces. Not only was Lambert tres miserable on Twitter, but he also lashed out at the actors in the film. He tweeted, “Les Mis: Visually impressive with great Emotional performances. But the score suffered massively with great actors PRETENDING to be singers. It’s an opera. Hollywood’s movie musicals treat the singing as the last priority.”
Say what you want – Lambert isn’t one of the best singers in the world for nothing. The man’s got more vocal chops than Christina Aguilera in a horror house. He continued in his rant, “I do think it was cool they were singing live, but with that cast, they should have studio recorded and sweetened the vocals. . . The singing was so distracting at times it pulled me out. The industry will say ‘these actors were so brave to attempt singing this score live,’ but why not cast actors who could actually sound good? Sorry for being so harsh but it’s so true!”
Sheesh!
Luckily Lambert lauded Anne Hathaway for her “breathtaking” performance and gave her a golden star, a Noddy badge, and a heap of love. (She plays a dying prostitute if you didn’t know.) Well, well, Lambert, perhaps you should first try your hand at film acting before berating others? We never knew your middle name was Roger Ebert. Should the film suck when we go watch it, we’ll send you a “thank you” card and an apology, but until then, we can’t really have an opinion on Lambert’s opinion – or can we?
Meh. It’s too much trouble to critique a critic.
