At Home Spa Day!

So as you plan for your weekend with your best girl friends you need some ideas on what you can do for fun. You’ve been to the mall a thousand times and the movies can get a bit boring unless there’s a great show playing! What about a good ol’ fashioned sleep over? Too old you say? Doubtful! Make it a full on girls spa day right in your own bathroom, here’s how! You’ll want to create different stations so depending on how many people you have at your party you can all be self-pampering at the same time and then switch stations when it’s time.

Start off by setting the mood:
Burn some relaxing candles with clean accents. Try scents like lavender & eucalyptus. Get a pitcher of ice water and put in some whole mint leaves; cucumbers are a great addition. Ask mom if she has any fancy glasses you and your girl friends can carefully use! Have your parents help you dim the lighting (usually they can just unscrew a light bulb from the bathroom to help “dim” the lights). You can pick up a relaxing type of CD at your local department store for a few bucks that will have nice ocean sounds, or if you want to download some tracks and put them on your ipod you can probably find something that way too!Station #1 = Pedicures:
Take a few of your kitchen chairs and set them in front of your bath tub, this will usually be enough room for 2-3 people at a time. Fill the tub with nice warm water. Pick up some bath salts or fizzy bombs from your local retail store for a couple of bucks. Add them to your bath tub water for a lovely smell (peppermint is great for stinky feet!). You’ll want lotion ready on the side once you’re done soaking! You can pick up a pedicure tool kit for not too expensive that will include all the tools you’ll need for the perfect pedicure. You can either arrange so you paint someone else’s toes or you can just paint your own. Have a few colors picked out or ask your girl friends to bring their own. Between groups of pedicures drain the tub for fresh warm water. Let the shower run while you fill the tub and it will keep the room nice and warm and steamy.
Station #2 = facials:
Set this station up in front of your mirror so you’ll be able to see what you’re doing and where you’re applying facial creams! You can obviously buy facial creams or hardening masks at the store but these can often be a bit painful to use. Try making a facial mask at home following these easy steps:
For brighter skin: ½ banana mashed well + 1 tablespoon honey + 2 tablespoons of sour cream. Apply to face and leave on for 10 minutes. Wipe off with damp washcloth.
For Hydration: puree ½ peeled, sliced cucumber in a blender + 1 tablespoon of yogurt. Apply to face and leave on for 20 minutes. Wipe away with damp washcloth.
For Oily or Acne Prone skin: 4 tablesppons of cocoa powder + 4 tablespoons of milk *should look like pudding. Apply to face for 10 minutes for normal skin and 20 minutes for oily/acne skin. Wipe off with cloth.
As always with facial creams avoid eye area!
Finish your facial station with cool cucumbers over the eyes or you can buy those fancy eye masks with the gel in them that you can freeze for a super cool finish!
Station #3 = Manicures! :
This station can easily be done in your bedroom for some private girl talk! Have mom help you find bowls or large containers, one for each girl. Fill them with warm water and some bath salts. Let hands soak in the salts and water while you and your girlfriends chat! Pick up some cuticle oil from the store and massage into fingers after soaking. Using the same tools from your pedicure kit shape and smooth nails into a beautiful finish! You can buy these great nail files from your local retail store, they are manicure files and have 7 steps marked right on the file to follow to get your nails to a lovely shape and shine! Coat with your favorite nail polish color and you’re almost done! Find some great nail art stickers and you’ll have a chic new look for your upcoming week!

There’s nothing better than pampering yourself. Should be done at least once a week.
