Stephenie Meyer Blaming Twilight Movies for “The Host” Bombing at the Box Office

Stephenie Meyer, the esteemed author of Twilight, came out today in defense of the last movie based on her book; The Host. She felt it necessary to point out that the critics only panned the movie in order to get revenge for Twilight. Yeah she went there. In this case of She said, They said; who is in the wrong?

I’ve read all of her books and even though I’m a fan I have to say The Host didn’t live up to its potential. While The Twilight series were closely adapted to fit the screen there wasn’t the same courtesy done for the recent blockbuster bomb. I’m being polite when I say it was boring. They changed everything about the main character except for her name. The conversations between Melanie and the person inside her head weren’t even half as amusing as they were in the book. And yes I really meant what I just said. No joke!

So no Mrs. Meyer the movie didn’t bomb because critics blamed you the emergence of the teenage vampire romance fandom. The movie was bad. There’s no other kind way to put it. But don’t take it personally. It was a pale imitation of your book and not Twilight’s fault.

When you say things like “I get further away every day. I am so over it[ her vampire books]. For me, it’s not a happy place to be”, you don’t really mean that. Not when that unhappy place made you a millionaire.
