One Direction Reveals Music Video For “You & I” – Romantic or Ridiculous?
One Direction‘s decline in relevancy is probably starting to worry them, but they shouldn’t be concerned – they still have plenty of successful years left in them, even if Harry Styles does go onto become the Justin Timberlake of the band.
1D has released the music video for their latest single, ‘You and I’, which will be officially released on May 25th. It’s the fourth single to be lifted from their ‘Midnight Memories’ album, which will no doubt sell out once it goes on sale in its entirety.
The video was a collaboration between several songwriters, the director Ben Winston, and the band members, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson. Winston has a history of collaborating with the band, since he’s previously done promo videos for ‘Best Song Ever’ and ‘Story of My Life’. The songwriters, Jamie Scott, John Ryan, and Julian Bunetta, also have a history of collaboration with 1D, since they’ve worked together in the past on other songs.
Anyway, the video is typical One Direction – cheesy, romantic, and perfectly targeted to their audience: screaming teenage girls. It shows the group prancing down Clevedon Pier on Somerset on a windy and gloomy day, with romantic music playing in the background and their boys’ hair being perfectly blown into the wind.
As always, everyone gets an equal share in the spotlight, which is the best thing you can say about the band. It will obviously become a big hit, as did all their previous singles, but we’ll have to wait and see whether it beats their previous singles in sales.
I heard that a lot of people aren’t digging this video.
I think everything they do is ridiculous but maybe if I was 5-years-old I might like it!
I always get a kick out of boy bands and their super cute and cheezy videos. <3
