It is almost over. The small baby brought home almost 18 years ago is about to finish high school. almost done and graduation is approaching. How best to celebrate this passage?
1) What to Serve – It is tempting to say, “Colors compatible with the living room rug.” Instead, bear in mind that most new graduates are like most old Congressmen – they exist to nibble and proclaim. Therefore, it does not so much matter what is served, so long as it is hand holdable and can be swallowed in a quick gulp.
2) How to decorate – School colors are the theme of the day, so coordinating table clothes, napkins, cups, and plates are in order. The local dollar store likely has the items necessary at a reasonable price. Add pictures of the graduate from early grades on up, yearbooks, and some fresh flowers on the tables, and everything will be lovely.
3) Who should be there – Invite the gratuate’s friends, of course. And family. But whether to invite friends of the parents depends on the number of guests the hosts want to serve.
4) When to hold the open house – The date of the party depends on the graduation date, family obligations, and even the parties of other graduates. If a graduate wants to attend close friend’s parties, then families should communicate to share times and make the scheduling work for the graduates. The more parties, the better. Planning late afternoon into the night means more people can float in and out, eat, visit, congratulate the graduate, and be part of the celebration. Usually, the graduate’s closest friends will last late into the night.
When it comes to a long day of celebrating, guests are usually most interested in visiting and remembering stories from grade 1 or when the graduate was a baby. So finger food, simple decorations, and some background music will be just perfect. Then Mom and Dad can relax and visit, too.

I think graduation should be a big deal, a party is a great idea.
and don’t buy too much food, they will drink more than they eat.
How fun. But I remember all of my graduation parties going much longer than I wanted.
