Top iPhone/Android Apps for Your Summer Travels

If you are planning a summer vacation but need just a little help finding a hotel, organizing your travel emails, finding attractions and navigating through airports, here are some great apps for your summer travels.

Trivago– Trivago is an app that is available for both iOS and Android and is free. This app helps you choose the best hotel in the area you are vacationing. All you need to do is enter the city and state you are heading to along with the dates you will need to stay at the hotel and what size room you need and hit search. Trivago will show you available hotels with a map. You can filter the listings by amenities, rating or price and Trivago will provide you with the prices from all of the main booking companies like Travelocity, Priceline, Expedia and Hotels.com.

TripIt– TripIt is an app that is available for both iOS and Android and is free. This app helps you to organize all of the emails that you have in your inbox regarding things like flight times, hotel room information and confirmation numbers. TripIt takes these emails and puts all that information into an itinerary that is completely interactive. You can have access to all your information from airlines to car rentals to hotels on your phone at any point during your trip.

Foursquare– Foursquare is an app that is available for both iOS and Android and is free. This app helps you find things to see and do that are close to you including parks, museums, monuments, restaurants and places to shop. You can use the app while you are at your destination to plan things for the day or you can use it before you leave home to plan your itinerary. Foursquare lets you narrow down the results according to categories like food, coffee, fun, nightlife and shopping.

Gate Guru– Gate Guru is an app that is available for both iOS and Android and is free. This app is like having your very own personal airport assistant. With Gate Guru, you can look at the itineraries you have set up with Kayak and TripIt, view a list of airport services, shops and food and check out airport security wait times. The app has listings for more than 125 airports in the United States as well as 17 airports in Canada, 31 airports in Europe, 29 airports in Asia and 2 airports in Australia.

    I’ve heard of the Trivago and the TripIt apps. Apps that help you do it all when traveling are the ones I’d use! I love knowing when the wait times are for airlines.

    These are all great apps to have for your summer travels. I love the Trivago app but have not yet been able to use it. Hopefully I will be able to use it very soon. Thanks for sharing.

    I use Foursquare a little bit. I like using Waze as my GPS app. It alerts you and it’s interactive. I used it yesterday to travel from home to a blogger event. It got me there safely.

    I’ve never used any of these travel search sites! I do tell everyone looking for a site like this though to stay away from Hotwire. I had an awful experience with them.
