What color should you paint your bedroom? So, your mom is FINALLY letting you paint your bedroom – you can say goodbye to that dull off-white color, and finally stop covering every single wall from floor to ceiling with posters to try to spice it up a bit. What you probably didn’t know, though, is that picking a color for your room is actually a much bigger responsibility than you thought and will be a crucial factor in determining the energy in your sacred place, and how you’ll be feeling every day when you wake up.
Regardless of whether you go with a solid color, a pattern or some sort of multicolored scheme – the colors that you choose can affect much more than just whether or not your comforter will clash with them. Before you make the serious decision of what color paint you tell your mom to pick up at the hardware store – check out what these colors can mean, and how they will affect your days.
Blue is a GREAT color for a teen’s bedroom – regardless of whether they are a boy or a girl. There are so many different shades of blue to work with, from pale and pastel all the way to navy. Plus, blue is considered a calming color because most people associate it with blue skies and serene oceans. It’s also easy to accessorize a blue room because there aren’t too many colors that don’t pair up nicely with it.Red
Red is probably the WORST color for a teen to paint their bedroom – unless they are going for a romantic theme, which is a bit bizarre for a young adult. Red is considered a passionate color, and can invoke negative energy. Some people even believe that a bedroom painted red can keep you up at night and make it difficult to sleep well. If you want your room to be bright and cheery – red doesn’t really match either of those themes.
Yellow is also a neutral color and can work well for either a boy or a girl’s bedroom. However, there is a big difference between yellow and pale yellow. A bold yellow bedroom can energize you, where as a pale yellow bedroom will have more of a mellow effect. Regardless of whether you go pale or bold, the color yellow is a solid choice for a bedroom color because it is believed to be associated with the sunshine and put even the broodiest teens in a chipper mood.
Are you a bit of a hippy, love feeling in touch with nature? Green could be the perfect color for your bedroom. The color green is associated with “Earthy” vibes, and is believed to represent harmony and balance. Green isn’t always the most popular choice for a bedroom, but if you want to be a little different, and wake up feeling like you slept in a calm and serene forest – then it could be the color for you. Also, scientists believe that the color green can help you concentrate, so if you plan on cramming for any tests in your room, that is always a plus!
