13 Reasons Why is officially coming back, but is Katherine Langford reprising her role as Hannah Baker? That’s what fans can’t help but wonder as the Australian-born actress herself hinted that there’s a good chance that she’ll be back for the second season.
The series tells the story of Hannah Baker and her suicide after leaves a series of tapes with 13 reasons why she blames certain people for her death. Produced by chart topper Selena Gomez, the show has been criticized for supposedly romanticizing teen suicide. A lot of critics also believe that Netflix hasn’t done enough to warn viewers about the show’s heavy content, which includes sexual abuse, drugs, alcohol and substance abuse and more.
As far as what’s in store for Season 2, showrunner Brian Yorkey made it no secret that Hannah’s story is not over yet. And apparently, they are planning to explore more into who is responsible for Hannah’s death. In fact, he told the publication, “I think one of the things that is still hanging out there is this question of is someone responsible for Hannah’s death? Is the school responsible? Who is responsible, if anyone is?”
Brian added, “One way we’ll explore that question is through the trial and also through all of these kids reflecting on where they are a few months down the road and what other secrets are being uncovered. That’s going to take us into the past, into Hannah’s story. We’re going to get some new context for events we already know about and we’re going to see a lot of things we hadn’t even heard about yet that fill in some really interesting gaps in our understanding of who Hannah Baker was and what her life was.”

What’s more, Katherine herself even told the media during the Netflix FYSee Kick Off Event on Sunday, May 7 that she’s excited about returning and filming along with the rest of the cast and crew. In other words, fans will be getting a better idea as to who Hannah Baker really was before her life took a turn for the worst before her suicide.
