Queen Elizabeth might not be a fan of Hollywood, but it looks like she does like to watch herself on the small screen – when no one is looking, that is. New reports suggest that Queen Elizabeth feels rather amused over Netflix’s highly-acclaimed series, The Crown. The biographical drama television series follows the reign of Queen Elizabeth from her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947 to the 1963 Profumo affair political scandal.
British actress Claire Foley plays Queen Elizabeth on The Crown. And apparently, the Queen loves it so much that she secretly watched the big-budget drama behind closed doors.
According to Britain’s Express, Adam Helliker says that Her Majesty is just like the rest of us when it comes to binge watching Netflix. She managed to watch all 10 episodes of The Crown, after she was encouraged to do so by the Earl and Countess of Wessex. The three supposedly had a special viewing party at a private apartment in Windsor Castle recently.

One source told the site, “It has been a longstanding arrangement that they drive to Windsor at the weekend to join the Queen for an informal supper while watching TV or a film. They have a Netflix account and urged her to watch it with them. Happily, she really liked it, although obviously there were some depictions of events that she found too heavily dramatized.”

Queen Elizabeth isn’t the only royal who has enjoyed the series. The Queen’s daughter Zara and her husband Mike Tindall are reportedly hooked on the show. And even Princess Eugenie is a huge fan of the series, as she reportedly told a friend at a party last week, “The music is wonderful; the story is beautiful and you feel very proud to watch it.”
The Crown is scheduled to return to Netflix in November, with Season 3 following in 2018. So far Netflix has made no comments about the second season of who will be replacing Claire Foy for that matter.
