Actress Katherine Langford Says 13 Reasons Why Has Been the Best Decision of her Career
According to actress Katherine Langford, agreeing to play the role of Hannah Baker in the controversial Netflix series 13 Reasons Why was the best thing that has so far happened to her. In fact, she calls it the best first show for her to do on television.
Her character Hannah left 13 tapes explaining the 13 reasons why she killed herself during Season 1. In a new interview with Deadline, the Australian-born actress says that she’s absolutely proud of the series and that she couldn’t have asked for a better character, despite how complex and controversial her story has been for so many people. A lot of critics slammed the series for supposedly romanticizing Hannah’s suicide.
Katherine explains, “The more I talk about it, the more I love the show, and the fact that I got to be a part of it. 13 Reasons Why was the first real job that I’ve had, and I think it was the best first show I could have ever done, but also, in a lot of ways, the hardest—purely because of the journey that Hannah goes through, and the magnitude of the show itself. Being a lead for the first time, and moving overseas, and overcoming those hurdles.”
And while no one knows exactly what Hannah Baker’s role will be in Season 2, many spoilers indicate that writers might be sharing more of her back story. That, or she might be coming back in either a dream sequence of flashback form. Whatever the case, viewers will have an opportunity to see more of Hannah and hopefully get more insight into her character.
