The Amazing Race Season 33 Spoilers: When Will Production Resume?
The Amazing Race fans are looking forward to season 33, but when will production resume? That is the question on everyone’s minds. Phil Keoghan recently teased when we can expect it to come back. As fans know, it came to a standstill in February just as the pandemic was starting to spread globally. So, what updates does Keoghan have for us?
Pandemic Halts Production
What began as an epidemic soon evolved to a full-scale pandemic. It caused production to shut down for most TV shows and movies, including The Amazing Race. For this particular show, it shut down in February 2020. When filming was halted, the show had already filmed three episodes and everyone was brought back to the United States.
Others Slowly Getting Back To Work
COVID-19 remains an issue in the United States, but people need to get back to work. It has been nearly five months now. While a few productions have resumed, it depends on where the filming is taking place. Here in the US, California gave the green light in early June, but only if other officials agreed. Then, we still had to deal with each production being approved one-by-one.
But with Amazing Race, they filmed outside of the US. They don’t remain in just one country and that is what makes this situation so much more complicated than what other TV shows are going through. It will depend on the COVID-19 issue globally.
‘The Curve Is So Depressing’
The Amazing Race will have to depend on the global curve and once that lowers, then they might be able to resume production. However, don’t count on it anytime soon. Keoghan said that the curve is “so depressing right now,” according to SoapDirt. However, the situation is fluid and could change at any time.

What do you think of what Keoghan said about The Amazing Race and COVID-19 remaining a global health crisis? When do you believe that production will restart again? How do you feel that coronavirus will change this show in the future when it is finally allowed to film again?
In the meantime, Keoghan is hosting a new television show called Tough As Nails on CBS. As always, we will keep you posted with new developments and updated information as it becomes available.
