The Good Doctor Season 4 Spoilers: Freddie Highmore In Quarantine, Production Date Delayed

The Good Doctor season 4 originally had a production target date for this month, but that has been delayed. The new tentative restart date, along with how the cast and crew are going to be kept safe is discussed. Plus, Freddie Highmore, who plays Dr. Shaun Murphy, is currently in British Columbia under quarantine. Keep reading for more details.

Freddie Highmore In Quarantine

According to CTV Vancouver, Highmore is currently in quarantine. That’s the rule in British Columbia, that no matter where you are coming from, you must go into isolation for 14 days before you can get to work. But that’s not all. After that, Highmore will still have to complete a health questionnaire and medical screening.

Hopefully, they don’t find anything to be alarmed about or any red flags. We assume that like US and UK productions, initial and periodic COVID tests will be conducted.

“It is workable, it’s just it creates new challenges. Some of them are financial, and some of them, of course, are mental health issues,” producer Shawn Williamson told the media outlet. “Somebody in a small hotel room stuck without any real connection for two weeks presents challenges.”

The Good Doctor Season 4 Production Date

The ABC television series was originally aiming to start production this month. However, things didn’t quite work out and as always, these production dates are tentative right now. That means they can change at any time and are really just target or goal dates.

With that being said, they are now aiming for August. So, we will have to wait and see if it happens or if there are other factors that could delay production even longer.

British Columbia Health Regulations

While interviewing producer Shawn Williamson, CTV Vancouver got the 411 on what is being done to protect the cast and crew. Everyone will wear masks, including in production offices and soundstages. There are also hand sanitizing stations throughout the set. In addition, the sets have been changed a bit so social distancing can be adhered to. However, it isn’t known if viewers will notice these changes when The Good Doctor season 4 airs on ABC.

Will COVID-19 Be Referenced?

There is no word on whether COVID-19 will be referenced in the show or not. Some productions are keeping away from it to give viewers a break from the pandemic. However, some shows will make references to the global health crisis, while others will downright make it a major storyline. As for what The Good Doctor plans on doing, we will just have to wait for more information to be released.
