“Slowly one day at a time, they helped me build myself back. It wasn’t just about getting me back on the road again, for me it was mostly about processing, addressing, and dealing with the negative feelings and events of my past, that I just couldn’t get over,” Matt explained in his candid social media post.
“I found happiness,” he wrote. “It’s still one day at a time, and I still have my days, but it’s so much easier now, now that I have tools, now that I understand how to better understand myself. To put it as simply as I can … I just got tired, and finally looked for a better way. God bless y’all guys, and thank you for sticking by me.”
Matt’s family members in Washington state have been going through a tough time in recent weeks
Matt’s family are trying to share his sense of optimism as they go through their own set of challenges these days. Bear Brown has announced that the Palmer Fire “swept through” their mountain and land on August 19, and it was a “devastating loss.”
On August 25 he told fans the family would be ok and to reach out to other families impacted by the fire.
At that time he wrote, “It’s tragic how many homes have been lost! To those who have lost, my heart goes out to you all! Stay strong! It’s always darkest before the dawn.”
