Even though a lot of longtime DWTS fans are none too pleased with the former supermodels’ hosting skills this year, it looks like the judges are willing to defend her at all costs, or at least to make sure that the show will go on. Here’s what you need to know.
Dancing With The Stars Season 2020 – The Judges Have Tyra Banks’ Back
After Monday night’s technical hiccup of a show, many longtime DWTS fans and viewers took to their social media accounts to not only express their dismay over how this season has been going so far but to also campaign for the producers to bring back both Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews.
Tyra incorrectly announced that Cheer coach Monica Aldama and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy were safe, when in fact they were in the bottom two. She quickly apologized for her mistake, but then blamed it on an “error in the control room.”
Dancing With The Stars executive producer Andrew Llinarea and judge Bruno Tonioli have gone on the record to defend Tyra, stating that what happened on Monday night’s show was not her fault. The producer told Entertainment Tonight in a new interview, “It was a behind-the-scenes issue.”
He added: “I was in the control room when this happened. The votes and results coming in is one of the most dramatic moments in the show, but it was a little more dramatic than we were hoping for last night, in a very unexpected way.”

“There was a technical issue as the actual votes were coming in last night,” Llinares added. “What happened was, Tyra actually had the wrong names on her card.”
Judge Tonioli also defended Tyra Banks, despite all of the criticism that she has been receiving online. A lot of fans have pointed out that when Tom Bergeron was on the show, this kind of flubs never happened. But Tonioli says that it’s all part of what happens behind the scenes of s show. “It’s live television, things like this happen, especially with information coming in from all over the country, voting and calculating in such a small amount of time,” he told the outlet. “Tyra was brilliant … she was really good because she took control of the situation.”
