So, why did Ami’s mother give parental consent and what is one rule that was broken?

Ami Brown’s Teen Marriage

The Alaskan Bush People matriarch married when she was 15 years old. Not only was she a teen bride, but Billy was 26 at the time. Even though many viewers have made this a huge issue lately, girls getting married in their early teens was not uncommon back then. Especially if they lived in rural communities or were separated from mainstream society. However, for it to be a legal marriage, the couple had to get parental consent.

Why Her Mother Gave Consent

So, why did Ami Brown’s mother agree? Her decision to give consent hasn’t really been discussed in detail. Perhaps it was so Ami could have a better life. Maybe Ami was just so in love her mother couldn’t say no. It might have been that Ami would have lived with Billy anyway, so her mother just signed the form. In any case, parental consent was given, but under one condition.

Breaking Rules And Cutting Off Contact
