The pro dancer, who has recently taken over as a new judge for the show, says that he would return only if he were to be partnered up with iconic chart topper Celine Dion. Can ABC make it happen? While Derek has had the honor to dance alongside such stars as Jennie Garth, Brooke Burke, Nicole Scherzinger, Ricki Lake, Shawn Johnson, Kellie Pickler, Amber Riley and Bindi Irwin, he is now aiming high. And when we say high, we mean Celine Dion. He recently told Kelly Clarkson on her talk show that his dream partner would be none other than Celine Dion.
“It would have to be for the right partner,” he admitted. When Kelly asked who that “right partner” would be, Hough replied, “I’ve always said Celine Dion.”
Derek also recalled a time when he actually did get to meet Celine Dion. Unfortunately, the meeting didn’t go as Derek would have hoped.

He said, “I was walking up the stairs. I was holding some shoes. And she was like, ‘Derek Hough!’ I’m like, ‘Celine Dion knows my name.’ I didn’t know what to say, so I was like, ‘I’m holding shoes. [She] did a turn and walked away. And I was like, ‘The hell just happened, what?'”
Now, as far as Dancing With The Stars Season 30 is concerned, Tyra Banks will return as the main host while this will also be Derek’s second season as a judge. This season will also welcome back fan favorite Len Goodman, who was unable to join DWTS Season 29 because of the travel restrictions between the United Kingdom and the United States put on last year because of Covid-19.
