1000-Lb Sisters Spoilers: Everything To Know About Tammy Slaton And Amy Halterman’s Season 3!
When 1000-Lb Sisters stars Tammy Slaton and Amy Slaton Halterman agreed to star in TLC’s reality TV show, the siblings supposedly planned to focus on their diet and exercise journey to a slimmer, healthier future.
And the premise seemed simple. TLC hyped 1000-Lb Sisters as a reality TV show that would showcase siblings who had always “relied on each other and food for support.“
As for the differences? The younger sister, Amy, who was 31 when season 1 began, admitted her desperation to have kids.
But Amy’s weight prevented her from getting pregnant.
In contrast, 32-year-old Tammy began the show recognizing that she was dangerously close to getting bedridden due to her obesity.
Find out what we know about the sisters from seasons 1 and 2, plus the scoop on 1000-Lb Sisters Season 3!
What Did We Learn From Seasons 1 And 2 Of 1000-Lb Sisters?
1000-Lb Sisters Seasons 1 and 2 focused on the sisters working on dieting and exercising. With help from experts, Amy did qualify for weight loss surgery.
But we learned that both Tammy and Amy had become accustomed to skipping exercise and cheating on their diets.
And although Amy got support from her husband Michael Halterman, Tammy seemed more interest in finding romance than seeking diet support from those around here.
As a result, Tammy frustrated her weight loss doctors to the point that she got advised to switch to a new physician.
The combination of the sisters’ social media and episodes during and after seasons 1 and 2 also revealed:
- Amy got pregnant, achieving her dream by giving birth to an adorable baby boy, Gage!
- Tammy shows more interest in posting TikTok and Instagram selfies than sharing exercise and diet achievements.
- And relationships continue to offer challenges for Tammy in terms of asking for help with getting back on the diet bandwagon.

1000-Lb Sisters Renewed For Season 3: When Is Premiere?
In contrast to reality TV shows that don’t get renewed until just before the premiere date, TLC unveiled the 1000-Lb Sisters immediately after the second season.
High ratings pushed 1000-Lb Sisters to Number One in its time slot among women 25-54, 18-49 and 18-34, per Deadline.
And the on again, off again diet challenges that Tammy faced only seemed to improve those ratings. Season 2 scored a double digit improvement from season 1.
As a result of that success, TLC’s spokesperson praised the sisters.
“Tammy and Amy Slaton have captivated us with their fun-loving personalities, heartfelt challenges and uplifting victories,” said Alon Orstein, SVP Production and Development at TLC.
“We admire their genuine, evolving journeys and we are rooting for them as they pursue paths toward healthier lifestyles.”
As for how that might play for season 3? At least some episodes may focus on Tammy getting stronger pressure from her doctors to win her weight loss wars.
And some fans think that Amy’s journey could include revamping her diet in order to get pregnant a second time.
We don’t have a premiere date for season 3 yet.
But we do know that season 1, episode 1 premiered in January 2020. Season 3 began in January 2021.
As a result, 1000-Lb Sisters season 3 seems likely to debut in January 2022. But those strong ratings could result in an earlier premiere.
