Ethan’s Family Is Part Of The Problem
Welcome to Plathville’s Ethan’s family is part of his and Olivia’s problem. Barry Plath and his wife Kim Plath have sheltered all of their children from things most people consider normal. However, Ethan and Olivia may have opened their eyes to some things against his parent’s wishes. When the couple got together, Ethan had not even tried soft drinks because they were not allowed in their house.
The children were all homeschooled and knew next to nothing about the real world. Olivia was much more worldly than that even though she was raised in the same manner. Olivia’s family was much more flexible in their upbringing. Olivia wanted to introduce her husband to things he had never experienced before and these lead to them being labeled a bad example to his siblings. Unfortunately, this has also cause problems between Ethan and Olivia.
Olivia Comes Across As Selfish
Welcome To Plathville’s Olivia has in mind what she wants out of life and seems truly incapable of compromising with Ethan. Olivia believes that Ethan wants to hold onto things he likes too much and she wants to let go of the small-town world. Olivia believes they need to move away from Ethan’s family who followed them to Cairo from the farm. However, Olivia wants to go to the city where they have more opportunities and a variety of activities.
Ethan has asked for a compromise of a small town outside of Tallahassee but Olivia is not willing to budge on this move. Olivia wants a year in the city before they decide where to live. However, this would result in Ethan having to get rid of the cars that he loves so much. Olivia has changed and Ethan pointed that out. Has Olivia changed too much for their marriage?
Change Is Not Always Good
Welcome to Plathville’s Olivia has changed so much that she has decided she needs to take a break from her marriage. At this point, Olivia and Ethan may love each other but they want very different things out of life. Has the changes in Olivia made it impossible for the couple to reconcile? Is this the end of their love story that started when they were so young?
Marriage takes compromise and Olivia does not seem willing to do that at this point. Ethan has given up almost his entire family for his wife. Can Ethan and Olivia find a way to work out their differences? Will the young couple survive in the end?
