1000-Lb Sisters Spoilers: Amy Halterman’s Eye Condition
1000-Lb Sisters spoilers reveal that fans are concerned about what is Amy Halterman’s eye condition. We all fell in love with the story of Amy and her sister, Tammy Slaton. These two are on their weight loss journey and it does seem that Amy is doing a better job with her diet than her sister. One thing that we have noticed on the show is Amy’s eye condition.
Is She Blind?
Many fans have shown concern for Amy’s eye condition and are unsure what is happening with her. Amy does suffer from a very rare condition that makes her legally blind. She would share her eye condition updates on her YouTube channel before she became famous on TLC.
Amy suffers from congenital toxoplasmosis. She ended up contracting this when her mother was pregnant with her. She told her fans, “One of the cats that my mom had had toxoplasmosis… and she would clean up after the cats, or whatever, and she was pregnant with me.”
How Serious Is Toxoplasmosis?
Toxoplasmosis is described by the Mayo Clinic as “a disease that results from infection with the Toxoplasma gondii parasite, one of the world’s most common parasites. Infection usually occurs by eating undercooked contaminated meat, exposure from infected cat feces, or mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy.” There are severe eye infections also caused by this and inflammation of the retina. This is how Amy’s eye problems began.
Amy is legally blind and she is not working because of this disability. She was born like this and many people think that she is on social security because of her weight, she has told fans time and time again that is not the reason behind it. When we look at her eyes, one goes straight and the other goes sideways. This is because of all of the scars in her eyes.
It is nice to know more about her condition and understand her vision problems much better.
