America’s Got Talent (AGT) alum. Skilyr Hicks tried out for the show at the age of 14. The talented youngster did well enough to make it to the next round. However, now aged 23, she died suddenly. So, fans who followed her took to social media and reacted to the sad news. When the police arrived at the scene, she was pronounced dead.
America’s Got Talent – Skilyr Hicks Debuted With An Original Number
2021 has been a worrying and distressing time for fans of the show. First, Simon Cowell was slow to make a full recovery when he broke his back. Then, in October, Howie Mandel, who now heads for 70 gave everyone a shock when he collapsed. He and his wife Terry just dropped into Starbucks, as you do, and the next minute he passed out. Well, fortunately, it turned out that he just suffered from low blood sugar.
The next bad news for fans of America’s Got Talent came in November. Thomas Wells passed away tragically in an accident at work. The talented self-taught musician was also featured on The Voice and on X-Factor. Unfortunately, he became hooked up with a conveyor belt at work. Seriously injured, he was airlifted to hospital, but specialists were unable to save his life. It took place in Oklahoma, and questions about health and safety are being asked. Now, Skilyr Hicks, who impressed judges in 2013 when she debuted with an original number died suddenly as well.

TMZ reported this week, that Skilyr auditioned in front of “Mel B, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Howard Stern … impressing them enough to be moved on to the next round.” She had a sad story about her dad, who died. So, she found solace in music and taught herself to write songs and sing them. AGT shared her audition on YouTube in July of 2013. You can see the original audition further down in this article.
The America’s Got Talent star didn’t stay very active on Instagram, so fans took to her last post that came in May 2020. Possibly, she became less active as TMZ reported that she ran into trouble after her time on the show. They noted that Skilyr ran into some “legal trouble in her later years — getting arrested for underage drinking in 2018 and also spending some time in jail for allegedly roughing up her fam.” Tragically, the outlet noted that the police suspect she died of a drug overdose.

America’s Got Talent fans who visited the old post that Skilyr shared, commented. One of them wrote, “Absolutely tragic.” Many of them just posted “RIP” and put up sad emojis. One of them who knew Skilyr wrote, “My best friend in softball I can’t believe your gone I love you so much I will always remember how sweet and caring and funny you were to me may god bless you in heaven❤️.”
