Where is Matt Brown from Alaskan Bush People?
Fans of Alaskan Bush People may recall the reality TV actor disappeared from the reality TV series back in 2017. But after the death of the family patriarch, Billy Brown, Distractify managed an exclusive email interview in which Bear Brown filled us in on what’s been going on with the elder Brown brother.
Read on and we’ll tell you what we learned.
He Could See Himself ‘Spiraling’
Fans may or may not recall that Matt Brown became estranged from his parents a few years back, entering rehab for alcohol addiction in 2016. The reality TV veteran has since come forward with shocking allegations that may explain a lot.
He told People at the time that he could see himself “spiraling” and that he had become “more withdrawn” and “slower.” At the time, the Alaskan Bush People veteran said that after the family’s boat broke down a few years prior, and they ended up spending time in Juneau, he started drinking.
One Year Sober ‘Doing His Own Thing’
“In life, we all get lost every now and then and have to find our way back,” Brown told People after spending 35 days in rehab for alcoholism, adding, “Not everyone makes it back, and I’m happy to be one of those who did.” When the Wolf Pack left Alaska and headed to Washington, back in 2018, Matt chose to remain in California where had found treatment.
Unfortunately, that move only served to widen the gulf between him and his parents and he ended up back in rehab for a second time later that same year. Compounding matters, he also had allegations of sexual assault leveled at him, from two different women.
In the email exchange with Distractify, Bear Brown said, “Billy’s been doing his own thing,” adding, “I don’t really see him much these days.” But the Alaskan Bush People alum went on to say that he hopes Matt finds the peace and serenity he’s looking for in his life.
Matt celebrated one year sober in March 2021 and announced it in an Instagram video he captioned with, “Face your fears it will be OK. I love you.”
