The My 600 Lb. Life star was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. Dr. Now graduated from the University of Tehran with a Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Now is an author, an American doctor, and a television personality. Dr. Now is a vascular surgeon and bariatric surgeon who is well known for working with patients weighing over 600 pounds.

After moving to the United States, Dr. Now participated in the Medical Orientation Program at Saint Louis University in 1971 and completed a Rotating Surgical Internship at St. John Hospital (operated by St. John Providence Health System) in Detroit, Michigan.
