Jed Duggar Takes Time To Clear A Major Misconception About His Family

The Duggar family is known to be strict Christians who do everything in accordance with how they believe Christians should behave. The family’s fame came through their reality tv “19 Kids and Counting.” The show was later dubbed “Counting On” and, since it’s a reality tv, viewers already have a perception of what they think the family is about. The Duggars are being judged based on what the viewers saw.

Jed Duggar — The Misconception About Duggar Family

In a YouTube Q/A segment with Jed Duggar and his wife Katey, titled “Q & A | Jed & Katey Duggar Family Update!,” the counting on alum took the liberty of clearing the air about the major misconception about his family. Not that Jed chose to explain that part first, the question was actually asked by a fan six minutes into the video, “What is the biggest misconception of your family?”

When the question was asked, Jed answered, “Oh, you’re brainwashed. Your parents control you. You’re all gonna probably have the same number of kids or have a lot of kids.” Jed then added that “I’m definitely not brainwashed. I have a mind of my own. My dad will even sometimes … We’ll have an argument, disagreements where we’ll just talk things out, and it’s healthy. My dad is a very humble man, my mom as well. She’s just the sweetest thing ever.”

Though Jed praised his parents for being humble and the sweetest thing, he didn’t fail to state the obvious which is, “They aren’t perfect, I know that, but I love them for who they are,” he added. “And so, I’m really grateful for my parents. The upbringing that I had, of course it wasn’t perfect, and I think a lot of people are seeing that now.”

To add to what her husband said, Katey added, “probably a big misconception is that, like, no one has a mind of their own and these things are, like, forced on them, and it’s like, ‘we’re actually happy. We love our lives, and we make our own choices,’” said Katey. “And some of them are gonna be similar to both of our parents, and some will be different, and the same will happen with our kids too.”

Jed Duggar — On How The Duggar Family Relates With His Brother’s Wife Anna

In the YouTube Q/A session, Jed also spoke about how things are with his family and his brother’s wife Anna. Anna Duggar’s husband Josh Duggar was sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison for being guilty of receiving and being in possession of child pornography.

Speaking on how things are with Anna and his family, Jed said, “It’s a very sensitive spot in our family, especially with Anna, you know, their kiddos, and [we] just try to be there for them as much as we can.”

After Josh’s sentencing, Anna moved in to live with her inlaws at the massive “Duggar compound.” When Josh’s sentencing hearing was still ongoing, Josh’s sisters who were very much against their brother’s action did all they could to make Anna see reasons and divorce Josh, even if not for any reason but for the sake of her seven children. Anna refused vehemently.

After Josh’s sentencing, an insider revealed to In Touch that Anna took care to distance herself from every Duggar family member that was against her husband. From Jill, Amy, Jessa, to Jinger. Anna did well to avoid contact with them because she thinks they’re her enemy.

The insider also revealed that even though Anna wants nothing to do with them, “The Duggar family fully supports Anna, but it’s complicated. There are a lot of hurt feelings over what Josh did.”
