From episode one, we have heard about their financial woes and now with Tammy having to pay out of pocket for the weight loss rehab facility, it doesn’t seem like things look good for them. However, some fans feel that they have more money than they show on TV. In fact, there have been many fans who think that they pinch pennies because of how they were raised. If that is the case, they are making good money off the show and should be able to pay the bills, right?
The Sister’s Net Worth
Amy and Tammy have developed quite the following since we first saw them on TLC. Tammy has been very open about how she hates it when her fans think that she is rich. In fact, she has talked to her fans about how her family is not financially stable and that they have a lot of woes when it comes to money. Although they do have other sources of income from their YouTube channel, it seems as if they aren’t making as much money as some fans think they are.
There has been a lot of speculation on how much the sisters make per episode. TLC never comes out and tells viewers how much they pay their cast and Tammy and Amy haven’t been open about the amount of money they make either. There have been insiders who claim that TLC pays new cast members about $1,500 to $3,000 per episode. If the show is successful, they can make up to $7,000 to $10,000 per episode. Tammy and Amy also make extra money from doing Cameos for their fans. They charge up to $20 per message for those.
The Sisters and Money
Just last year, Amy’s fans were curious about how much money they made per episode. She told them, “I can’t discuss how much I get paid, but that’s my main job and posting videos of YouTube.” There have been hints about the sisters wanting to write books about their lives and weight loss journeys and this could be another source of income when the time is right.
Tammy does receive social security from the state and it looks as if Amy gets disability for her poor eyesight. However, her husband, Michael Halterman works full time while she stays home with their boys. As of right now, we will just have to assume that they are getting paid well from TLC and just being frugal with their money.
