Sister Wives spoilers, news, and updates reveal that, according to all About the Tea, Gwen thinks her father held her mother, Christine, hostage in a loveless marriage. The 21-year-old TLC personality shared recently that she was “shocked” to hear her father Kody confess that he has been “a little cowardly” while he was married to Christine (via PEOPLE).
“Maybe I should have told her that I didn’t like her,” the Brown family patriarch said, “but what I didn’t do was I didn’t quit.” Gwendlyn then added more context to her dad’s comment, saying, “I think it’s more cowardly to be in a relationship where you don’t love somebody than it is to leave instead of experiencing heartbreak.”

Gwen then addressed Kody’s claim that Christine shouldn’t show her independence, saying, “What’s she supposed to do if she’s not independent? He has three other wives. What’s she supposed to do? Just sit in the corner and braid her hair?”
She later claimed that Kody has a lot of “double standards” in his relationships with both Christine and Janelle Brown who he accused of keeping a lot of things hidden. While addressing a fan’s reference about her dad being a “massive misogynist,” Gwen explained, “I’m just glad it’s not something I inherited because that would suck.
“I think the way he was raised made it difficult for him to get out of those ideas — which is not an excuse. You can get out of the kind of thoughts that you think. Dad’s opinions and thoughts tend to benefit him, I think, so that’s why I assume he chooses to think that way.“
Did Kody Brown Just Lead Meri On?
Fans of the TLC personality’s YouTube channel will recall that she previously slammed her father for his “manipulative” behavior with ex-wife Meri Brown (via Daily Mail). She accused her father of “just leading [Meri] on,” in a reaction to a Sister Wives, Season 17 clip that showed Meri holding out in her platonic marriage in the hope of a future reconciliation. At the same time, Kody told cameras that he no longer felt married to Meri.
